Matt Ferran

Film & Video Editor | DJ

How it started: A Hi8 camcorder, two VCR’s, and a shoebox full of cassette singles.

How it’s going:  A decade-plus editing career and a record collection worthy of its own zip code.

My lifelong love of film and music—and the ways they intersect—has brought me a long way.  As a freelance video editor in New York, I’ve had the opportunity to cut for brands as varied as New Balance, Center for Justice Innovation, Coach, Kate Spade, Minor League Baseball, Maybelline, Metro by T-Mobile, Intuit and Morgan Stanley.  Through these projects I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the city’s finest edit houses and agencies—Consulate, Modern Post, Radical Media, Hornet, Decoded Advertising, Barbarian, EP & Company, and McCann, to name just a few.

With my background as a DJ, it’s no coincidence that my editing style has been described as “highly musical.”  I approach each project with the same sense of rhythm and pacing that I use to soundtrack parties at the city’s finest vinyl listening bars.  Whether behind the editing console or the turntables, it’s all storytelling and emotion.
